New beginnings

I’m back!

After almost exactly 3 years of combining a career as a freelance musician with 9-5 work as a digital project and product manager (and a bit of teaching on top), I’m back to freelancing full-time.

Portfolio careers aren’t for everyone and we don’t all get the chance to pursue them. I spoke about this in my TEDx talk last year. It’s felt like a bit of a struggle at times (and I intentionally haven’t taken a proper break in years), but it has been a great way for me to maintain a steady income while deciding which areas I wanted to focus on. It’s also been really interesting seeing what life is like outside of the music industry. Now, I’m looking forward to the next phase of my career, combining the things that I’m most passionate about –  music, technology and education.

Over the next few weeks, I’ll be reviewing some apps and online tools. I’ll focus one ones that have been helpful to me as a performing musician, as a music teacher or both. If you know any that you think I should be looking at, put them in the comments section.

DISCLAIMER: I’m an Android user and this obviously has some effect on the mobile apps that I choose. I will do my best to find ones that are available across multiple platforms.
